Scorpio is the fixed, yin, water sign co-ruled by Mars and Pluto. Its glyph has several connotations…

It’s the scorpion, the snake, the eagle, and the phoenix. Transformation, birth, death, and renewal is a vital part of this archetype. The time of year is late fall but before winter. The leaves on the tree are dying and falling off. A leaf doesn’t think about it, when it’s time to let go, it just lets go. Not so easy for humans. This sign is fixed, so it wants to stay the course, it doesn’t want to change, but change it must. The glyph looks like the letter M with a tail at the end, and it reminds me of a roller coaster ride, the ups and downs, and twists and turns that are needed to do the dance of change. We are in watery realms so deep emotions are worth exploring and to become conscious of. Note the power of your intuition. Fixed water reminds me of an iceberg–what is above water may not reflect the depths and widths below the surface. There is an intensity here, maybe even some fear in detecting and cataloging all our feelings. We may want to know everyone else’s secrets, but camouflage our own. “Still waters run deep,” speaks to our Scorpio house and placements. Warning signs to go no further abound. Consider this area like an ice sculpture. What can you gently pick away at to get what’s underneath? Like the snake who will shed several skins over its lifetime, so too, will this area of life.
