Starting with the basic meaning, we know that a Full Moon brings something into full focus and full illumination. If we were talking about the growing cycle, this is when the fruit is ripe and ready to be picked. The Sun and Moon are opposite of each other. Let's take some time to consider the Moon and it's archetype since it's ruling this lunation.
The Moon represents so many things in astrology and we often use keywords to try to help "pin down" the energy. The Moon controls the tides, and so we know there is something having to do with water, which means there is something emotional or connected to our feeling nature. Tides rise and fall, so we know something fluctuates and can change, just like our emotions. Think of the crab that represents the Cancer archetype--it has a hard shell that protects a fragile interior. It has pincers to protect, grab, pinch, or cut. It's eyes are outside of the shell, so often feel vulnerable. It has antennae that helps them sense the environment, search out food, and the areas surrounding them. We may want to "channel" the crab during this time. Other key words for the Moon are: Mother, security, safety, emotions, intuition, memory, digestion, subconscious, vulnerability, and even fear.
The Full Moon is when the Sun and Moon are opposite each other and something stands in its full radiance. On one side, we have the Sun with Mars and Venus on either side of it. Mars and Venus are personal planets, and we call them that, because we may feel them more, than say an outer planet. Venus speaks to our relationships and what we value. Mars represents what we want, what we are willing to go after or fight for. The Sun, Venus, and Mars stand in the sign of Capricorn which can bring a certain weight, stoicism, or heaviness to this Full Moon. Capricorn is disciplined, realistic, and often focused on responsibilities and goals we have. On the other side, we have the Moon with a wide conjunction to Jupiter which is retrograde. As we know, Jupiter makes things bigger and more expansive. So our feeling, instinctive nature could be a lot right now. If we think back to the crab, we may want some protection that the shell can provide. Jupiter is retrograde, which means, we want to use all our -re words: reframe, revise, reconsider, reconnect, etc. How can we nuture and tend to our most sensitive parts right now? What would we find soothing and healing? We may want to carve out some alone time, snuggle up at home, read a book, take a bath, be with a loved one. We may feel extra sentimental, moody, or sensitive.
I don't know about you all, but it has been a hell of a holiday season. The idea of doing any of the activities that most people think they should be doing around NYE is not tempting whatsoever. So, if you're not feeling that vibe, be vulnerable enough with people you may have plans with, to reschedule or keep the plans more lowkey. Take some time to consider what you need right now, then provide that for yourself.
