A New Moon heralds a new beginning. The Moon is in the hopeful sign of Sagittarius. Sag is in search of meaning and wants the ability to roam and explore freely. Sagittarius is represented by the centaur--half human, half horse. There's a sense of wildness here. I can visualize a horse tossing its head and throwing off any reins, heading for wide open spaces.
Let's take note that the lunation is at the 28th degree of the Sag which suggests that something is about to transition or shift. Further, the Sun and now the Moon has squared Saturn and coming to square Neptune. We are dealing with structure (Saturn) and the structureless (Neptune). How do we make meaning of that duality or paradox? Can we hold space for two things being true at the same time? Remember that Sag is a mutable fire sign, so there's something inherent in that archetype to being able to adjust and accomodate.
And, we may need that, as the ruler of this lunation, Jupiter, has a relationship to the Moon that something is a bit prickly. Jupiter is quincunx the New Moon, and a quincunx says there is something that feels like a crick in the neck. The kind that you are constantly aware of. Further, Jupiter is retrograde in Cancer, so there's a sense that there is something in review or needs some reconsideration. Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so there may be an ebb/flow here or a sense of needing nuturing or support at this time.
Look at your Sag, Pisces, and Cancer houses. Do the topics that are reflected in those places helpful or providing some insight? Feel free to reach out to me at odastrology@gmail. com. Provide your birthtime, place, and time of birth, and I'll send you a free birth chart and share some resources for you. That's part of the Sag archetype--it wants to share, disseminate, and help us see the bigger picture.
On a final note, I know this is a New Moon and a lot of people like to do some kind of ritual or set some new intentions, but, for me personally, I'm going to hold off until the Winter Solstice, which is on Sunday, December 21st. This is the time, in some way, for a new year, and will speak to the next 3-6 months of energy. The Sun, newly arrived in Capricorn is sitting close to Mars, which is considered in exaltation in the sign of Cap. Mars works well in this sign. It's strategic, determined, and ready to do the "work". By early January, the Sun will catch up with Mars and their conjunction is an alchemical process that is similar to a reset. (Venus and Mercury will be going through same process with the Sun, which is interesting to have the personal planets go through their synodic cycles almost at the same time). All to say, perhaps use this New Moon time to get quiet and reflective, let a story do some more unfolding and then set your sights on goal setting and achieving.
