Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the mutable, yang, fire sign ruled by Jupiter. Think of the last time your lights went out and you were plunged into the dark. Then remember what it felt like when you lit some candles and spread them around. There’s a renewal and a sense of well-being in the comforting glow. Mutable fire is like that process. It wants to spread the light and illuminate a bigger space. Sagittarius is the centaur, part human and part horse. We locate the parts of ourselves that want to roam, explore, and leave the safer pastures of home. The house that has Sag on the cusp may not appreciate being “fenced in” or cornered. It wants wide open spaces. Jupiter reminds us we want meaning, expansion, and a broader perspective. Think of the centaur that carries his bow and arrow. His aim is high. There is a certain tension needed between the bow and arrow as he takes aim, as well as knowing when to release the bow. The archer trusts his aim will be true. There’s optimism that you’ll reach some new place. When we get there we meet other people with different tenets and philosophies that may inform our own. What’s foreign to us may help widen our world view, may even help us to make meaning of our past and shape our future.
