Neptune

Neptune is the principle connected to the sacred, transcendent, numinous, and anything that is ineffable. Neptune is astounding, fantastic, inexpressible, and indescribable. It’s ethereal, spiritual, it’s the process of dissolving. Illusions, delusions, smoke and mirrors, and rose-colored glasses. Just describing this archetype you may find yourself getting lost and befuddled. It’s like a fog has rolled in. How do you hold on to fog? How do you see through the fog? How do you describe it? There’s something about intuition, the imagination, and the instinctual.  It’s the most elusive and unconscious. Compassion, sacred love, and universal laws are a part of this principle. Intoxication is part of this archetype as well–whether that comes in the form of a higher perspective of Universal love or in the form of addiction. Transcendence, escape, and dissolving of all things rigid. Who needs a schedule or an alarm? What’s the purpose of those things when we are dealing with a much higher perspective? Recently, I went to a place that had a steam room. I walked in and was immediately enshrouded by the steam, and even though I saw the bench when I first walked in, it immediately dissolved in the fog, and I found myself shuffling with my hands out, unsure of where it was located. Then, when I found the bench, I looked back at the door, and it too, was too swallowed up by the fog.. The signposts (the door and the bench) were there but gone. Every once in a while the fog would abate and the door and the rest of the bench would come into view, and then, more steam would be piped in and the whole room would disappear. It was very disconcerting. This is the power of Neptune. What will we encounter, and often, without warning? Most of us like to be in control, but like a riptide, we meet a power greater than us, and we are swept away. All of this can sound alarming, but in some way, this is where faith is called in. Can we allow something to unfold that isn’t on our timeline? Can we concede that we may not always know the way forward?
