This week we have a New Moon in Leo and Mercury stations RX in Virgo and will go back into Leo. So there could be some information we need to retrieve in our Leo house. Let’s pay attention to what happens as this week opens up as Venus in Leo (which retrograded through Leo last summer) will be trining Chiron in Aries. We may get some insights on what needs some healing energy. What could use some new insight and messages. But, first lets look at the planetary movements and lunations for the month of August…

Venus in Leo trine Chiron RX in Aries at 23 degrees- It takes courage to look at our wounds? Maybe even more so to look at the wounds we have around relationships. Today, though, we have a trine energy, that says, that even though painful, we have the support and guidance we need to do this work. 

July 31

Sun in Leo trine North Node in Aries at 8 degrees- This feels like further insight ahead of the new Moon. Pay attention to where we hunger for something new to begin. Notice what is coming to light? What creative spark gets the juices flowing?

August 1

Mars in Gemini sextiles North node in Aries at 8 degrees- This feels like a continued push or urging to get something started or initiated. Gather your courage, take the risk. Meet the energy halfway. 

August 2

Venus in Leo square Uranus in Taurus at 26 degrees- romantic restlessness and a desire for change. Where are you looking for excitement? Maybe a little freedom? We may crave a deeper intimacy but not finding it in a current relationship. We may want to disturb the status quo or rock the boat. We may be fickle when it comes to who and what we like. Here today, gone tomorrow kind of feels. Notice where you want some radical shift.

August 4

Venus moves into Virgo- Venus is said to be in her detriment in Virgo (opposite a place she is exalted, which is Pisces). I like what a teacher said once, “Is she in her detriment because she knows her own mind?” Venus in a Mercury ruled sign, so how you think, organize, and analyze becomes important over the next few weeks. Notice if you’re trying to orchestrate your love life or directing loved ones around. Release the need for perfection and put discernment to good use. Prioritize those you love or the things you truly enjoy doing. Separate the banal from the essential.

New Moon in Leo at 12 degrees- This New Moon is asking you to look towards some of your own self-interests. This lunation receives sextiles from Mars and Jupiter in Gemini. So you may have the drive and perspective you need to get something off the ground. The ruler of this lunation is the Sun, in its own sign of Leo, so there’s some extra dignity here, and with some help from Mars and Jupiter you may feel you have the momentum and luck you need. Which house is your Leo house? If it’s the 2nd house, maybe you’re starting a new project that has profits in mind. If it’s the 11th house, you may find the resources you need from friends and associations. Be bold, be brave, and go forth and create. 

August 5

Mercury stations RX in Virgo at 4 degrees- Here we go…another Mercury retrograde. Everyone likes to talk smack about it, but do your best to take a more analytical POV. I know I’m not the most patient person, and I’m not a big fan of reviewing the details, but when I do, and catch a mistake, it’s so satisfying to know you avoided some future issue. So, take this time of Mercury ruling a sign it rules, to dive into the fine print. This Mercury RX will end up back in Leo, so there could be some drama, or some energy around not wanting to change, afterall Leo is a fixed sign. The RX period is August 5-28th, where Mercury will station direct at 21 degrees Leo. September 8, it will move back into Virgo and keep on moving. Think of the timing of this retrograde–summer is ending and we get into a more focused time of year. School starts back up, a new season is upon us. If you haven’t planned a vacation, maybe plan a staycation and give yourself some wiggle room before the upcoming changes. Organize a closet, then go read a book. Get some school supplies, then see a friend. Pay attention to the messages during this time.
