Full Moon in Aquarius on August 9, 2025

The Full Moon in Aquarius is happening on August 9th at 17 degrees. The Full Moon brings illumination, clarity, and culmination. The experiences we have bring us face to face with something that needs or wants to be seen. Once seen, it can't go unseen.

Where did you go after reading that statement? If that sounded ominous, let's remember we have agency. Often, the things we fear are based on the supposition that we are incapable of managing or getting through a certain life experience. Think back on times you thought couldn't do something, but then somehow made it through. Draw on that experience and strength in case you are in a place of worry or anxiety around the future.

I mention the future because Aquarius is a future oriented sign. Aquarius wants us to get some space and see something from a higher perspective. So, take a metaphorical bird's eye view and look at something from all angles. Aquarius is a fixed air sign that is concerned with liberation, novelty, and modernization. An air sign has to do with talking, thinking and communication. You may want to bounce some ideas off a trusted friend or ally. Aquarius is fixed though. Sometimes when we've made our mind up, that's it, it's made. Aquarius sometimes has to be reminded to renovate, change, and to innovate, no matter how entrenched our thinking might be.

The ruler of Aquarius is Saturn, so it's important to look at what's happening for Saturn during this Full Moon. Saturn is currently retrograde, very close to Neptune, also retrograde in Aries, and engaged in an opposition with Mars, who just recently moved into Libra. Mars and Saturn have very different types of energy, so we know there's some tension baked into this Full Moon. Mars keywords: action, passion, anger, competition, motivation, and assertion. Saturn keywords: boundaries, discipline, work, time, responsibilities, constriction, and restriction. Can you feel the difference? Will Neptune being next to Saturn soften some of the "blows"? Mars is in a sign that Libra does well in, Libra, because two people can do more than one. Saturn is in a sign that Mars rules. Will that help?

You might be asking, "Well, what the hell should I be doing now that you've shared all of this?" First, I suggest looking at your chart and seeing where Aquarius is in your chart. Do you have any planets at angles around 17 degress of the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius, because this Full Moon will be illuminating these areas of life for you too. Secondly, the idea of psychological "shadowboxing" seems potentially helpful. Shadowboxing is a boxing technique that has you practicing all your jabs, punches, and moves with a pretend partner. How does this translate? Aquarius is an air sign, so playing scenarios out in your head or logically, sequentially going through a storyline, may help you prepare for any situation with someone or something else you are struggling with. If you're future tripping, calming the "monkey mind" by meditating or doing yoga nidra. If you don't have a therapist, find one, and start airing out the issues and fears you have. If you tend towards black/white thinking, have the audacity to question where those beliefs came from and could they still be accurate? Finally, ask yourself, "What is the greatest good that can come from this experience?" See the potential outcomes and then strategize towards the best outcome.

I'll leave you with an idea from Carl Jung, a psychotherapist, who said that when we can hold the tension between two opposites, by facing and enduring what those two things bring up, a third thing can emerge, which can offer a more integrated response that leads to further growth and individuation.
