Capricorn

Capricorn is a cardinal, yin, earth sign. It’s ruled by Saturn. There’s a bit of a paradox here because in one sense something wants to begin (cardinality), but on the other hand, something is constricted (symbolized by Saturn). So, we know, right off the bat, we need to narrow our focus when it comes to starting something. The wild optimism of Sagittarius is behind us, we’ve been spread perhaps too thin, and now we need to consolidate, and pull our energies back inward. Like the mountain goat we are ready to scale the next mountain. Have you ever watched a goat climb? It doesn’t jump in leaps and bounds but by taking calculating steps forward. There’s a need to go slow and steady. Get strategic. But like the mountain goat, you may start in one direction, be thwarted, and have to retrace your steps, or find a new way, but onward you will go–with discipline and determination. This sign has everything to do with commitment, dedication, ambition, and goal-setting. Capricorn season signals Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, so there’s a sense of austerity and seriousness. We need to plan a structure for the supplies and stamina needed for the season ahead. And, when we make it through there is a sense of pride and accomplishment for working so diligently.
