Cancer New Moon on June 25, 2025

The mantra for this New Moon could be: Change is inevitible; growth is optional.

But, before we get to the New Moon, I want to talk a little bit about Jupiter in Cancer. There is a lot of information out there...a lot of promises of all the good that Jupiter will do. In traditional astrology, Jupiter is considered a benefic and when its in Cancer in its exaltation.

But, what does all that mean? Jupiter is the archetype connected to meaning, optimism, and hope. "It's about our place in a much larger, eternally unfolding scheme or design--a conviction of meaning and purpose," says Liz Greene, a well known astrologer. And, Jupiter is said to bring an extra oomph of expansiveness in the nuturing waters of Cancer. Again, what does that mean? And, for you personally, reader?

Sharing the overarching meaning of the planets can benefit anyone whose is trying to understand how astrology works. However, in order to understand how it may affect you, you need to look at your own personal chart. Jupiter as a transit could be exerting its influence on your natal planets or it may not. So, you may see friends, family, or the larger world going through the period of expansion, and you are more of a witness. Or you may be experiencing these energies yourself and feeling the growth of Jupiter. Further, and as I've said in some recent posts, expansion isn't always easy. How do you deal with change? Taking up space? Growing? Jupiter may be asking you to widen your world view and that could feel frightening or even threatening.

If you don't know your chart yet, we can still get an idea by looking at the timing of Jupiter. A Jupiter cycle is 12 years. So think back to 2013, 2001, 1989, and keep going depending on your age. These were the times Jupiter were in Cancer. Does anything jump out at you? Were those times easy or hard? If you want to dig in deeper consider getting a reading from a professional astrologer.

We could all use some of the higher forms of Jupiter: hope and optimism (especially in these times) and I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but I do think it's important to remind everyone that energy is just that...energy. It can be expressed either positively or negatively. The planet (any planet) doesn't make us do something. We have free will. It is up to us to make that choice when offered: do we take the "low" road or the "high" road? Even when we feel backed into a corner, we have options. So whatever is being presented to you at this time, consider the fact that you have choice(s). Let's try to keep that in mind as this cycle of Jupiter in Cancer begins. It'll spend a year here: from June 9, 2025 to June 30, 2026.

Now, on to the New Moon....This New Moon will be at 4 degrees of Cancer. Guess who's sitting with the Sun and Moon at this time? Jupiter. A New Moon signifies a time of seeding and so does Jupiter. If we think of how Jupiter is connected to Zeus in myth, we know that Zeus was well known for his many affairs and offspring, which signifies a creative and generative force. Look to your Cancer house. What themes are represented there? If it's the 3rd house it could suggest a time of communication and connections--maybe even a sibling story. If it's in the 9th house, perhaps you're noticing an uptick in travel, learning, or education. It may not be immediately apparent what's happening in this area of life, but something is being seeded. You are the gardener. How will you nuture this new energy?

The New Moon recieves energy from Mars in Virgo and Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Mars, newly in Virgo, is offering a sextile, so there may be a bit of a struggle around details or organization, but it also may feel like "if you build it, it will come" type mojo. Saturn and Neptune, however, is a place where there's more stress and tension. It's going to take hard work. You may, as I said above, feel like you only have some vague idea or feeling of a goal, but nothing concrete as of yet. Can you stick with it anyway? Will you tend, nurture, and provide care for this new seedling? Or does it seem like too much work, so you quit before you even begin? No judgement either, it's a personal decision.

Whatever you decide, I wish you a happy New Moon. If you find the goal worthy, may it be fruitful and longlasting.
