August 5-12, 2024

We only have a few aspects this week, but I do think the month of August is going to provide a mixed bag of experiences. Do you remember those mystery boxes they had at fairs or carnivals? You would give your ticket, and pick out something that was wrapped, and you had no idea what you were going to get? This feels like the overall energy of August. So, if you find this week to be quiet, use this time to organize the month ahead, don’t overcommit to anything, consider how you would like to conserve your energy. If you find this week to be hectic, do your best to carve out some downtime. Delegate whenever possible. 

The Mercury RX may have us feeling one step forward two steps back as the month unfolds.

August 5

Mercury stations RX in Virgo at 4 degrees- Here we go…another Mercury retrograde. Everyone likes to talk smack about it, but do your best to take a more analytical POV. I know I’m not the most patient person, and I’m not a big fan of reviewing the details, but when I do, and catch a mistake, it’s so satisfying to know you avoided some future issue. So, take this time of Mercury being in a sign it rules , to dive into the fine print. This Mercury RX will end up back in Leo, so there could be some drama, or some energy around not wanting to change, afterall Leo is a fixed sign. The RX period is August 5-28th, where Mercury will station direct at 21 degrees Leo. Then, on reSeptember 8, it will move back into Virgo and keep on moving. Think of the timing of this retrograde–summer is ending and we get into a more focused time of year. School starts back up, a new season is upon us. If you haven’t planned a vacation, maybe plan a staycation and give yourself some wiggle room before the upcoming changes. Organize a closet, then go read a book. Get some school supplies, then see a friend. Pay attention to the messages during this time. 

August 7

Sun in Leo sextile Jupiter in Gemini at 15 degrees- We may be feeling a little more uplifted or that there’s an energy that has to do with meeting someone else halfway or divvying up the work in an equitable fashion. Every summer I notice a moment where I’m in awe of all the bounty around me. Maybe it’s the perfect sunset, or enjoying time with my kids, or taking a walk and noticing all the life teeming around me. That’s the feeling of this transit–an ideal or edenic moment that makes us feel grateful and supported. It could be fleeting so enjoy what comes up without taking what shows up for granted. We could notice this collectively in our leaders. Maybe we see leaders of opposing sides trying to work together in some mutually beneficial way. 

Venus in Virgo conjunct Mercury RX in Virgo at 3 degrees- Let’s remember all the things we love about the people we are connected with....starting with ourselves. Venus's glyph often is compared to a hand held mirror, so take a look at yourself and note the things you love and find worthy. From there we can look outwardly, and if we need to, sort through any communication conflicts we’ve had with others. Virgo is a mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury, so there’s a little extra oomph or support here, and with Mercury in RX let’s be willing to shift, adapt, and prioritize those we love or the things we find worthy and supportive in our lives. Try to avoid judging too harshly, and note what is working and what’s not, then let the rest go, if possible. Communications can be more harmonious if we remind ourselves to discern what’s most important to convey. 

Some of the tenser aspects of the month of August are starting to form, so be gentle with yourself and others, we are all doing the best we can. Jupiter in Gemini is stretching us all thin, especially in the arena of communications. Take a media break!
