The Emperor is connected to the Aries archetype. The energy of Aries is “I am.” So, in essence we are staking a claim, like an explorer who has found new territory. The Emperor boldly steps into his authority, ready to begin something with a fresh new perspective. The Emperor is connected to the Divine Masculine. We may think of the Emperor as someone who rules over others, but the Divine Masculine has to do with declaring yourself and boldly creating a world with you in the center of that existence. How do you lead others if you don’t know how to “rule” yourself? How do you get there?
Aries is driven to take action. Is it from a true knowing of oneself? Or is it spurred on by fear? When we are learning something new, like Aries usually is, we can feel powerless or even stupid. Where is the power in learning something new? Being brave enough to begin, for one. But, also, that if fear is egging you on, that you aren’t rushing through that process without taking some time along the way. When we start something new, we are going to make mistakes, but we also tend to make more than needed when reacting or impulsively or rashley racing through the undertaking.
The Emperor card can be the balm for the furtive Aries energy. Taking a beat and getting grounded is a potential that the Emperor can share for anyone new to some experience or way of being. Being your own leader means no one else is going to be counseling you. So, discipline is part of the Emperor archetype. The Emperor knows that mistakes teach you things, so it’s not a question of “if” you make a mistake but “when”. Knowing yourself means accepting errors AND that you learn from that lesson so the next time you can course correct or strategize differently.
What does the Aries archetype mean to you?
