Aquarius is a fixed, yang, air sign.
It’s ruled by Saturn in traditional astrology and Uranus in modern astrology. Most people think Aquarius is a water sign because of its glyph–those aren’t waves, like in the ocean, think of them more like air waves transmitting information. Aquarius is called the water bearer. Think of the vase in the graphic of this sign as a conduit, a conveyance, or channel. Aquarius wants an aerial view or a top down view. Whatever was built in Capricorn, Aquarius is noticing what needs updating. Aquarius is forward-thinking, future-thinking, innovative, and appreciates originality. Aquarius reminds us to reconnect to our humanity. As an air sign, it wants to connect, communicate, relate, and learn. It’s a fixed sign, so there is a solidness here, it knows what it knows, and is clear on its stance. Sometimes, that can be blindspot for Aquarius, sticking to its POV is important but so is change and the freedom to explore and upgrade their ideas. Aquarius is a humanity and community focused sign. It may not agree with your personal opinions, but will fight for your right to have them. What’s best for the greater good is a common question for Aquarians. Aquarius embraces differences and encourages being eclectic, quirky, and diverse. Aquarians are often the outliers in a community. They’re unique perspectives ask us to consider all sides of an equation, especially the people and stories outside of the norm. Back to the rulers of this sign, Saturn seems to be teaching the Aquarian about the rules and boundaries of life, and Uranus, seems to be teaching how to break them or color outside of the lines.
