This is not meant to be a political post, it’s meant to be an exercise in astrology. So please keep that in mind as you read this. I will be doing Biden’s chart soon as well.
Some of this will be technical for beginners. My suggestion is to simply notice what stands out or resonates for you.
I want to look at Trump’s chart hemispherically. When we divide the chart we are usually using the angles: the ASC, DSC, MC, and IC. The angles are very important points in the chart. In very simple terms: ASC=ascendant aka how I see the world and how others view me, DSC= descendent aka the “other” and who we attract in, MC= medium coeli or midheaven aka public image and life’s work, and IC= imum coeli aka roots and family.
The first image is of Trump’s natal chart. This is an AA Rodden rated chart. You’ll see a very badly drawn black line vertically from the MC to IC, or from the top of the chart to the bottom. As you can see almost all of his planets are on the left side of the chart except for his Moon and South Node (SN), which are on the right side. Interestingly enough if we were to split the chart horizontally from the ASC to DSC, his Moon is considered “hidden” because it’s below the chart's horizon. This may suggest that only those he trusts and/or living with him see some of his lunar qualities. Planets above the horizon are said to be more evident and planets below are said to be less visible.
Sticking to looking at the chart vertically though, we notice right away that almost everything is on the left side, which pertains to “me”, the planets to the right of the chart represent the “other”. So, astrologically and psychologically, in some sense, Trump is learning all about himself in this lifetime. Astrologer Frank Clifford states, “An emphasis on the eastern hemisphere (houses 10 to 12 and 1 to 3–the symbolic midpoint being the Ascendant) is said to indicate a more action-orientated, self-motivated individual.” This feels further emphasized by his Leo ASC. Leo is known to love drama and often needs/craves attention. I have a Leo Sun, so I feel I can speak about this with some experience. There’s a need for the limelight but also fear of it–” what if no one likes me” type of energy. Leo is a fixed, fire sign. It’s yang and masculine, so outward expression is key. This also means that Aquarius is the sign on his DSC which as an astrological archetype has more to do with the shared collective experience as opposed to the individual POV (Leo).
In astrology, we pay attention to reoccurring themes so take note of a motif regarding me vs them.
The Sun rules his chart and if you look to his 10th house you will see the Sun in a tight conjunction (next to) with the North node (NN) and Uranus in Gemini. The North node connotes a place where we are being stretched to grow. The 10th house is a “public” place. It’s often how the world sees us and how we want to be seen or known usually through our life’s work. This is significant because as astrologer Stephen Arroyo points out, “...one might say that the nature of the ruling planet lends an overall tone to the person’s entire life, both his experiences and his approach to interacting with the outer world. The specific sign position of this ruling planet is therefore of great importance as a symbol of the quality of experience, energy flow, and general orientation to life that will dominate the individual's way of being for this incarnation.”
A side note, the house system I’m using is called Placidus and that can sometimes have some interesting characteristics. For example, Trump’s MC is 24 degrees of Taurus which makes the cusp of the 10th house, and then a few degrees later Gemini begins. The thing with fixed signs is there is a quality of persistence, determination, and resistance to change. Gemini, though, is mutable, and that has the features of flexibility, changeability, and dispersal of energy. I wonder if he feels that fixed/mutable energy as a need to persevere but also the need to shift? Frank Clifford also notes that with a Taurus MC, “...success is building something tangible, worthwhile, and guaranteed to stand the test of time.” With a Leo ASC, “...establishing a name and image; career longevity; promoting our principles” would be important to this individual.
Let’s look at the combination of the Sun and Uranus in a natal chart. A conjunction speaks to two energies co-mingling and potentially hard to suss the two apart. We have the drive of the will and ego (Sun) fused with a need for independence and unpredictability (Uranus). In Renn Butler’s book called The Archetypal Universe, some of the phrases he uses to describe this combination are: “A heightened sense of freedom and autonomy,” “Unexpected breakthroughs and awakenings,” “ Manic self-celebration,” and “an inability to cooperate or compromise with others” If we take those pieces of information and look at them through some of the keywords associated with Gemini: changeability, curiosity, inconsistency, and learning, to name a few, it suggests we are looking at some erratic, hard-to-pin-down energy. Gemini’s glyph is the Roman numeral two and is often associated with Castor and Pollux and other myths concerning twins. There’s a duality, two sides of something. We’ve certainly seen this with Trump’s vocation (10th house Sun/NN/Uranus), first as a businessman, and now as a politician.
Looking at the second chart, you can see the same badly drawn line bisecting the two hemispheres, but now we have a second wheel overlaying the inner natal wheel. This second outer wheel has the transiting planets, aka where the planets are currently. As of December 20, 2023 (when I’m writing this blog), all the transiting planets are on the right side of the chart except for the South Node in Libra and Venus in Scorpio in his 3rd house. The 3rd house has to do with communication, perceptions, conditioning, early learning, transportation, siblings, your local environment/neighborhood, etc.
The nodes travel in the opposite direction of the planets so the SN will continue into his 2nd house of bankable skills, attitude toward money, what’s of value, possessions, and sense of self-worth. In Trump’s natal 2nd house are the planets Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune. They are forming a loose conjunction and creating a stellium (a stellium is when you have 3 or more planets close together…some astrologers may not consider Chiron since it’s not a planet but an asteroid).
Let’s look at Jupiter and Neptune together without Chiron. Mythologically, we have the Sky God (Jupiter) working with the God of the Sea (Neptune). We are dealing with vastness. The saying “The sky is the limit” would NOT apply. Essentially there would be a feeling of no limits. Returning to Butler’s book, he uses phrases for this combo such as: “Grand idealism and vision,” “dreams-come-true-optimism,” “tendencies toward rose-colored over-optimism,” “mirages of grand prosperity” and “excessive religious trappings and ceremony.” These planets are in Libra. Libra’s glyph is a scale. If you’ve ever seen or used a scale you know that rarely is anything equal. You are often trying to weigh something against something else. Libra’s purpose perhaps would be to achieve balance by working with others. Libra is ruled by Venus, so relationships are valuable. Currently, the South Node is going through Libra. The South Node is considered to be a place of release or of letting go.
Looking at the 3rd chart, you will see some colored arrows and a circle. The blue arrow shows where the South Node in Libra is now in Trump’s 3rd house, but heading towards his 2nd. The green arrow shows Venus and how it’s about to move over his IC. The purple arrow shows where planets are currently going over his natal South Node and Moon. The circle shows Saturn in Pisces on his DSC.
Let’s zero in on the purple arrow–where the planets are currently and how they are working with Trump’s natal planets. On December 12th we had a new Moon at 20 degrees and 40 minutes of Sag…that’s pretty much an exact conjunction with his SN and Moon at 20 and 21 respectively. A new Moon wants to seed or begin something but the Moon also had a square from Neptune happening that may have had the effect of making things harder to discern.
Finally, you see Saturn in Pisces is circled because it’s on his DSC. The “other” often has some lessons for us to learn for ourselves. The external has something for us to learn internally. We can either accept that it's ours to work on or project it out onto others. It’s a mirror image. Saturn has to do with rules, boundaries, and responsibilities. To have it in a sign ruled by Neptune, can make those limits seem like a grey area.
Some thoughts to consider with some specific transits upcoming:
On Christmas day, Venus will cross his IC and join the rest of the planets. Venus has to do with love, beauty, relationships, and values. Perhaps, from Trump’s POV, this could increase this feeling of “me against the world.” On December 27th, Mars and Mercury RX (retrograde aka revise, review, reconsider, etc) will conjunct at 24 degrees of Sag, forming an almost exact conjunction on his SN and Moon. Angry, passionate words, rhetoric, and communication could be one interpretation of that combo. Not only that, but all of this current planetary activity is opposite his Sun/NN/Uranus in Gemini. Oppositions often signal a mirrored internal conflict.
When you try to assimilate all of the above, what is your takeaway? Were there certain things that popped out to you? Do leave a comment below, if so. I found it fascinating that, at this time, with all the transiting planets traveling at different speeds due to their orbits and retrograde cycles, they all end up opposite his natal planets. I hope you found this information enlightening.
