Part Two: Where is Aquarius in my chart?

Updated: Jan 19, 2024

I can already imagine what you, the reader, might be saying, “All of this information is great, but how will this transit affect me personally?”  When we’re working with our own personal chart, we look to the house where we see the Aquarius glyph on its cusp. Aquarius’s ♒glyph is often confused for water when it’s more like air waves. Aquarius is called the water bearer but is an air sign. Aquarius represents the container for those qualities of water. Its purpose is to be a conduit or conductor. Aquarius is connective, social, communicative, and forward-thinking. Wherever your Aquarius house is will give you some extra information. The house will speak to the experiences you which you will want to apply that Aquarian objectivity and innovation.

Let’s look at a chart….

(look at chart provided)

If you were to look at this chart like the face of a clock, look at 9:00. You will see the glyph for Aries, which is the ram. It looks like two horns. It also looks like two blades of grass (to me). Think Spring. It’s a reminder of what that tender shoot of grass made it through to get out through the cold and crusty earth to reach the Sun. Whatever sign is at this 9:00 time is the Ascendant. So, for Aries Rising or Aries ASC, Aquarius is the 11th house. The 11th house is also a social house in a sense because it’s about the groups we are aligned with. These people could end up as friends, but at first, we are drawn to some hope or dream we all have in common. A simple example could be a book club. Each of us has a love for reading, so we come together and discuss our thoughts and opinions. So, these experiences will be colored by the Aquarian archetype of future thinking, equality, change, and probably with a tinge of the unorthodox. More than likely your book club isn’t reading from Oprah’s list, in other words.

Here’s a quick idea of what each house represents. If you’re interested in something more in-depth, please let me know and maybe I can do a separate blog on the houses.

1st house: me, my point of view, how others see me

2nd house: what I value, possess, and attitude about money

3rd house: communications, perceptions, siblings, neighborhood

4th house: home, who I am when I close the door at the end of the day, emotional security

5th house: creative self-expression, children, pleasure

6th house: physical health and well-being, daily habits and routines

7th house: committed relationships, contracts

8th house: joint resources, taboo topics like sex, death, and taxes

9th house: higher education, travel, philosophy

10th house: public life, legacy, what occupies my time and energy (like a career)

11th house: friends, hopes, wishes, humanitarian efforts

12th house: psychological and spiritual well-being and undoing, hidden places

Where is your Aquarius house? Are you noticing this area of life is a little stale? Does it need a strong wind to clear it out and bring in some novelty and originality? Aquarius is known for its ingenuity, but sometimes it needs a reminder that what was inventive has become conventional. Time to spice things up, and breathe some new life into this area.

What is your attitude towards change? For some of us, this may be more exciting, for others, not so much. Since we are dealing with the fixed sign of Aquarius, and thus the other fixed signs of Leo (opposition from Pluto in Aquarius) and Scorpio and Taurus (square), it’s probably going to be a little more difficult. Fixed signs like things the way they are. They appreciate stability, reliability, and security.

I’ve got a lot of fixity in my chart, so I’m trying to meet Pluto instead of being afraid. Aquarius is my 4th house. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for almost 28 years–which is almost a Saturn return…Saturn is one of the rulers of Aquarius.  My youngest is about to graduate high school. I’ll be an empty nester almost when this transit starts. Astrology is often considered a keyword for Aquarius. I’m wondering if being an astrologer is what I’ll consider myself at the end of the transit in 20 years. I’m pretty sure Pluto has some tricks up his sleeve.
