New Moon in Cancer at 21 degrees on July 14, 2026

We have a New Moon--a new seeding on July 14th in the sign of Cancer. After the recent Full Moon in Capricorn on June 29th, I wonder if there will be feeling of a response to what came into awareness at that time? Do we feel that pull of the polarity? What can Cancer offer us?
Cancer is the cardinal water sign ruled by the Moon. We are working with the Mother archetype in Cancer. What nourishes us? What soothes our frayed nerves? What is in flux and flow? Is it high or low tide, in some metaphorical sense, in our house of Cancer? The Divine Mother feeds, nourishes, and sustains us all. It's more than we, as humans, can provide. Perhaps this is a time to offer ourselves some extra TLC? There's an ability here to birth something new.
Further we have Mercury in retrograde in Cancer at the time of this New Moon and. Mercury is often about the contents of our heads. We may translate that to the stories we tell ourselves. Are we brave enough to take another look at those and see if our perceptions need shifting? My friend Berit asked a poignant question in her podcast (The Uranian Rabbit Hole...check it out!) that she did recently on gut feelings--how can you tell the difference between a gut instinct or a mood? If we are in a mood we are talking about a sustained emotional state, but a gut feeling is about a hunch that often isn't logical. So we are somwhere between the head and the gut. Which one do you choose? This retrograde is asking you to parse the two apart.
Jupiter has just left this area after spending a year here. What did Jupiter open up and show you what was growing? Keep in mind, that sometimes growth is painful. A crab, the symbol of Cancer, has to molt it's shell, eyes, and antennae in order to keep developing. Often, it's left naked while another shell emerges, or it has to hide until a new (and vacant) shell comes along. This denotes a sense of vulnerability or a need for protection.
Look to your Cancer house for clues:
If you are a Cancer rising this New Moon is in your 1st house. Consider your entire body. Is it time to start some new care taking ritual? Diet? A new perception or perspective in your life?
Leo rising look to your 12th house. Perhaps it's time for a retreat, a new therapy, or inner self reflection?
Virgo rising, this New Moon is in your 11th house. Who do you find yourself surrounded by at this lunation? Perhaps some of your groups and associations need a change or new life?
Libra rising, it's the 10th house for you. What is a public persona anyway? How do you want to be viewed by the world? What do you find occupying your time?
Scorpio rising, the 9th house is calling. Do you need to shed some outdated beliefs or philosophies? Ready to publish something?
Sagittarius rising, the lunation is in your 8th house. Perhaps it's time to look at your finances and create a new budget?
Capricorn rising, the 7th house is asking you to follow your intuition surrounding your most intimate 1:1 relationships? What's your inner voice telling you?
Aquarius rising, the New Moon is in your 6th house, and perhaps it's time to start a new habit or physical, health regime? Any pets needing extra TLC?
Pisces rising, check in with your 5th house. What's your inner child asking for? A little fun in the sun? Or, if you have kids, perhaps they need something?
Aries rising, the 4th house of home is calling. Does your family seem more emotional? Do you need some more alone time?
Taurus rising, the 3rd house has to do with communications, so you may find the hype around Mercury retrogrades feeling more personal during this time. Slow your roll and review all the details. Siblings may need some extra support.
Gemini rising, the 2nd house wants you to evaluate your resources and factor in your own self worth and value into the mix.
Wherever you are, get near some water, and look at how you sit with emotions (uncomfortable and otherwise), drink water, stay hydrated, and get some extra rest.
