New Moon in Aries at 27 degrees on April 17, 2026

Whew! There is a lot of energy in Aries right now. SEVEN planetary bodies are in the sign of Aries right now. In order of degrees: Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Chiron, Sun, and Moon. It feels like this area of our life is in bold, bright neon light, even though a New Moon is barely a whisper seen in the night sky. In fact, if you wake up before the Sun rises, you can see Mercury, Mars, and Saturn. Neptune will be there too, but unless you have a pretty good telescope, you won't see it--which could be a good reminder of what this New Moon is about. What would you plant if you knew it couldn't fail?

The ruler of this lunation, Mars, is setting up to unite, co-join, and connect with Mercury and Saturn (the exact conjunction is two days later at 7 degrees of Aries). What does this mean? To me this suggests that you get serious about what you want and that you walk your talk when it comes to what you're putting into place. Saturn wants you to promise to work hard, to say "no" to things that may distract you, and to concentrate. Mercury wants you to double down and focus! And, Mars says act now and think later. Mars and Saturn don't often work "well" together, because Saturn is slow and disciplined, and Mars (especially in Aries and a sign it rules) just wants action. Now!

How do we use this energy wisely then? Perhaps with the idea of "margins for error". This is the spirit of stop-go-stop-go. I remember teaching all my kids how to drive and this reminds me of that time. There was a need for patience (please don't ask my kids if I exhibited any), guidance, support, and direction. I knew that my child would eventually get to a more even pace and ability to steer the car, but at first there was this overabundant need for caution and the use of the brake (including holding on to the hand strap in a way that suggested it could make the car stop if I held on to it hard enough).

Look at your chart: Where is Aries? Do you have any planets or angles there? What could use the Aries surge of beginning? Recognize it may need a lot of extra oomph, symbolized by how many planets are there offering their help and support. Even if it's a cacophony of conflicting opinions, do your best to take it all in. Start something. Take a break. Start again. Evaluate. Process not perfection may be the strategy that works best.
