New Moon at 18 degrees of Virgo on September 10, 2026

A New Moon heralds a new beginning, but often with the understanding that something else has to end. On one hand we have started a new phase with the eclipses happening in the Leo/Aquarius axis, but we are recognizing the endings that are happening in the Virgo/Pisces axis. This eclipse season we had a New Moon in Leo and a Full Moon in Pisces which feels like we are straddling several thresholds. And, now to have a New Moon in Virgo, there could be a sense of clarity around what's been happening in this area of your chart.

This lunation is largely unencumbered or working directly with other planets (that isn't to say there isn't action going on around this lunation, more on that below). There's a sextile from Mars in Cancer. Let this be an area where you garner nurturing support. Take note of the people and places where you feel you are being met, at least half way. Pump your energy into these places instead of areas that leave you feeling drained or depleted. You may want to clock whether you've been showing your appreciation for these people and places. No one likes to feel as if they're being taken for granted. Mars in Cancer can defend or be defensive. Do you notice any of those energies at play?

Three other things will occur on this day, so there will be a tonal shift. First, we have Mercury, the ruler of this lunation, leaving Virgo, a sign it rules, for Libra. Mercury will have a final retrograde cycle this year, and it too will straddle the signs of Libra and Scorpio. Mercury in Libra may be looking for a partnership or collaboration. It might be a great time to spend catching up with friends and re-connecting. It might be also seeking some kind of balance in the Libran fashion through something aesthetically pleasing or people/places experiences that hold value for you. Be careful with your words, sometimes we choose to say what is socially acceptable to keep some of semblance of peace, instead of directly discussing any prickly places in relationships. As soon as Mercury enters Libra, it will deal with an opposition from Neptune, then a trine from Uranus, and then an opposition to Saturn. How might that play out? You may have kept things with a partner deliberately "foggy" (Neptune). Maybe it wasn't worth rocking the boat, so you kept things nebulous. Maybe your partner heard some revealing info or insight (Uranus) from another friend or family member, which results in a more serious or somber (Saturn) conversation with your partner. This is just one way it can play out. What do you notice?

Second, Uranus will station RX in Gemini (another sign ruled by Mercury which makes what's happening for Mercury take on more signifcance) has gotten as far as 5 degrees, but now will turn back and retrace its steps. Uranus will stay in retrograde motion until around February 7, 2027. If you have planets or angles in the early degrees of Gemini or the mutable signs (Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces) you may feel this more personally. Uranus, as an outer planet, isn't concerned about your feelings about things becoming unstable. It's here to push advancement, freedom, and provide shock value. Where are you noticing a wake up call happening in your chart or for others around you?

And, finally, on the same day, Venus moves into Scorpio. Venus leaves a sign it rules, Libra, for the depths and intense fixed waters of Scorpio. Inquiring minds and hearts want to know. Do all the deep dives, sit with all the moody feels, notice places of wounding, and check in on what you find yourself obsessed with (As Venus receives a square from Chiron in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius as soon as it enters Scorpio. And she will have two more squares with Pluto during her RX cycle). Venus will be straddling the two signs of Libra and Scorpio during her upcoming retrograde. She will station RX on October 3rd at 8 degrees of Scorpio, move back into Libra on October 26, and then station at 22 degreees of Libra on November 13th, before heading back into Scorpio. If you have planets or angles between 22 degrees of Libra and 8 degrees of Scorpio, you know that Venus will be going over these areas three times--so take note of an unfolding story. Plumbing the emotional depths of who and what we value is a part of her journey.

So, as you can see, there's a lot of energy in and around this day, so you may want to use the Virgo high road of discernment to plan accordingly. Organize with an eye towards flexibility and pivots. Spend time in nature, get your hands and feet dirty, move your body, eat something nourishing and sustaining. Let the earth and nature inspire and astound you by witnessing how she deals with inevitable change and the cycles we all go through.
